1. Shutter Island (2010)

R | 138 min | Mystery, Thriller

 IMDB RATING: 8.263 Metascore.

In 1954, a US Marshal investigated the disappearance of a murderer who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane.

Why watch: Visually beautiful, wonderfully acted, and relentlessly gripping, Shutter Island is a brilliantly unhinged emotional thriller that keeps its audience engaged. The brilliant Leonardo DiCaprio is always a surprise for us. A twisted psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end, Shutter Island is another excellent collaboration between DiCaprio (giving another pitch-perfect and heartbreaking performance) and director Martin Scorses.

Where to watch: Shutter Island is available on Netflix.

Director: Martin Scorsese | Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Emily Mortimer, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley

Number of IMDB votes 1,305,697 | Gross EARNING: $128.01M

Worldwide Box Office performance $299,461,782

2. Primal Fear (1996)

R | 129 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

 IMDB rating 7.7 | 47 Metascore

An altar boy is accused of murdering a priest, and the truth is buried several layers deep.

Why watch: Political corruption and moral decay in big city Chicago come from a conniving sociopath from nearby backwoods, Kentucky, whom we see at the opening as an altar boy singing in an all-boys church choir performing for the town’s elite at a social fundraiser for charity. Like another Gregory Hobbit film (Fracture), you must accept a certain amount of implausibility. Like the murders, for example, around which the film evolves. But like Fracture, it’s other (earlier) and surprisingly fond of lawyers and prosecutors (Richard Gere and Lara Linney) and the elusive perfect crime. Also, the part played by Edward Norton. He’s got as much backwoods hardscrabble danger as anyone from those Georgia hillbillies in Deliverance.

Where to watch Primal Fear? Prime Fear is Available on Netflix.

Director: Gregory Hoblit | Stars: Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton, John Mahoney

Number of IMDB votes 218,988 | Gross earning: $56.12M

 IMDb rating- 7.7 | 78 Metascore

Between 1968 and 1983, a San Francisco cartoonist becomes an amateur detective obsessed with tracking down the Zodiac Killer, an unidentified individual who terrorizes Northern California with a killing spree.

Why watch: You’ll enjoy it even if you’re not interested in true crime, with outstanding performance to keep you engaged. The movie has speedy editing that keeps the film on the yapper toes that have become a Fincher trademark. The cinema can grab and hold your attention; even at the movie’s end, you are left asking more questions. Overall not a great film but a great crime, thriller and mystery movie.

Director: David Fincher | Stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Anthony Edwards

Number of IMDB votes 541,371 | Gross Earning: $33.08M

PG-13 | 102 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery

 7.6 | 71 Metascore

After his teenage daughter goes missing, a desperate father tries to find clues on her laptop.

Why watch: It began slowly as the characters unfolded, and like Nordic noir, the narrative drive was meticulous Internet investigation. It was brilliant for those on social media; For the more technologically naive, this was a bummer. Silence and mouse clicks led to suspense for me; Others thought it slowed the movie. The acting was great, and you felt his pain and frustration. Search 2018 is an excellent film with an unexpected twist. I like it.

Director: Aneesh Chaganty | Stars: John Cho, Debra Messing, Joseph Lee, Michelle La

Number of IMDB votes163,495| Gross:$26.02M

TV-MA | 128 min | Drama, Fantasy, Mystery

 IMDb rating- 7.4

The two storms are separated by 25 years. A woman is murdered, and a girl is missing—only 72 hours to discover the truth.

Why watch: It’s incredible. The plot was easy to guess, and the suspense wasn’t great. You can quickly think of who ‘Nico’ is. ‘Nico’ – It contains the name of a character. But believe me, and you will never be bored. Your curiosity will increase after stargazing. I can’t tell the director how grateful I am to see this movie. Also, the actors were great, and you will fall deep into this movie.

Two people live at different times. Seo-Yeon lives in the present, and Young-Sook lives in the past. A phone call connects the two, and their lives are irrevocably changed.

A vertical prison with one cell per level. Two people per room. Only one food platform and two minutes per day to feed. Being stuck in The Hole is an endless nightmare.

Why watch: I have never seen a movie that describes the reality of social class in our society through this simple, beautiful concept. He shows how we characterize the styles below us, and our superiors represent us. He shows us how wealth is unfairly distributed between classes in society. I like it very much.

A British diplomat travels to Munich in the run-up to World War II, where a former classmate from Oxford is also en route, but he is working for the German government.

Why watch: The Review title is engraved on the National Archives building in Washington, DC. This movie is incredible. On the surface, it is about Neville Chamberlain’s surrender to Adolf Hitler in 1938 over Germany’s threat against Czechoslovakia. However, one can compare Trump, Biden, Putin, the MAGA movement, the situation in Ukraine, and the current threats to American democracy.

Pot growers Ben and Chon face off against the Mexican drug cartel that kidnapped their shared girlfriend.

Why watch: I’m a massive fan of narco-drug movies, and this is probably one of my favourites since Benicio is on the show. His performance is brutal, realistic and animalistic. On the other hand, only Salma and John do a good job, and all the main actors are unreal. The direction is okay here, but the screenplay is not the best. So, overall a good drug thriller, thanks to Benicio.

Why watch: In a film dedicated to the frailty and imperfection of the human condition, no one comes out completely unscathed. Except for the many flashback sequences, this could easily have been a stage play that relied heavily, as it does, on the intimate, tense and often claustrophobic interactions of its heavyweight cast. Always a relaxing experience but well worth the effort.
