The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist is a new Netflix documentary series featuring in-depth exclusives with Alexis Neiers (now Alexis Haines, as she’s married) and Nick Prugo. Prugo and Neiers were two of the main members of “The Bling Ring,” a group of convicted thieves in Calabasas, California. They broke into the homes of several notable celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, and more.
With the three-part docuseries now streaming on Netflix, it’s the perfect time to revisit Sofia Coppola’s 2013 satirical crime drama The Bling Ring, which is based on the crimes. Emma Watson starred in the film as one of her first big post-Harry Potter roles, playing Nicolette “Nicki” Moore, a character based on Neiers.
The Bling Ring also starred Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Taissa Farmiga, Claire Julien, Georgia Rock, and Leslie Mann. Broussard’s character, Marc Hall, was inspired by Prugo. The docuseries brings up the movie a couple of times as Neiers and Prugo provide their thoughts on certain things in the film and whether or not it was an accurate depiction.
Is The Bling Ring on Netflix?
Even though the documentary series is on Netflix, the movie directed by Sofia Coppola is not. However, there are a couple of shows with a similar vibe, such as the reality series Bling Empire and the show (also based on a true story) Inventing Anna.
Where to watch The Bling Ring
You can watch The Bling Ring if you are a Showtime or a Paramount+ subscriber. You can also access the film if you have the Showtime add-on in Prime Video. Outside of those options, the movie is available to rent and purchase through most digital retailers.
Where to watch Lifetime’s Bling Ring movie starring Austin Butler
Before Sofia Coppola’s 2013 film, there was a 2011 Lifetime movie made about the same case (of course there was). Perhaps most surprising of all is that this 2011 flick starred Austin Butler and even Sydney Sweeney makes an appearance!
Right now, you can only watch the Lifetime television movie via the Lifetime Movie Club. If you have Prime Video, you can add the Lifetime Movie Club as an add-on channel and watch it there. Alternatively, you can also buy the movie on Amazon or Vudu for just $1.99.
