Spoilers from Do Revenge ahead!
Is Do Revenge 2 happening?
Netflix has not announced if there will be a sequel. This isn’t unusual because Do Revenge just came out on Sept. 16. Netflix has to see how many people watched the film (from beginning to end) over a certain period of time before making a decision. In fact, it’s very important that people watch the movie in the first 28 days of its release. This is when Netflix tallies up the viewership numbers. If a good amount of people watch Do Revenge, this betters the film’s chances of getting a sequel. However, other factors also play a part in Netflix’s decision-making process, such as production costs and if there’s more story to tell.
We don’t think production costs will be a problem because the first film’s budget was reportedly $10 million, which is significantly lower than how much a Netflix movie typically costs to make. If there were to be a Do Revenge 2, it would most likely have a similar budget. But what would be the plot for a sequel?
In Do Revenge‘s case, the film wrapped up neatly. Drea and Eleanor get their revenge on Max and end up with their love interests (Drea with Russ and Eleanor with Gabbi). So a sequel wouldn’t really be necessary. However, it’s worth mentioning that the writers could always come up with new ideas for a sequel if Netflix gives the go-ahead. But if you’re asking for our opinion on the chances of a Do Revenge 2, our answer is slim to none. We believe this is a one-and-done type of movie.
Still, we’ll let you know if Netflix decides to go through with a sequel. But for now, expect there to be only one film.
